The Dream

Those who pursue higher academic knowledge spend most of their lives preparing for what is supposed to bring them a sense of accomplishment and financial security. They do this not just for themselves but for future generations to prosper as well. The problem (or Paradox, if you will) emerges in that if they are constantly sacrificing the present for an unknowable future, they will never be able to fully enjoy the fruits of their work.

This dilemma poses a significant problem. It is such a perniciously subtle problem that most modern day people have it buried deep beneath their conscious psyche. We would rather not think about "why" we are doing what we are doing, than question it at all.

A modern problem requires a modern solution. We must center and focus our attention on what truly matters. Through meditative practices we can find the answers within. I have found that the most important factor in my own life is the ability to take control of my own time. Our time on this Earth is limited after all, why should we waste away inside the vortex of the Paradox?

Thanks to Jack Dorsey, every tech giant in Silicon Valley now has open desk space, standing desks, and break rooms with ping-pong tables in their offices. This has truly revolutionized the way we work. Additionally, ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been granted the option to work remotely, even from our homes. All these things together give us the freedom of where and how we want to work- but what about when?

My dream is to manifest a future reality where the system we use to work, trade, and produce value is liquid, frictionless, and free. I believe (and many research papers would agree) that the most productive state of creative flow is achieved when there exists a defined goal, a potential reward or punishment (opportunity), and the time and space to allow true innovation to flourish. This is the mission embodied by Develup. I, as much as every other remote worker around the globe, would love to increase their productivity by working on a pay-by-task basis rather than a wage-based salary. The reason for this is simple: merit. There may exist an "entry level" developer who has no degree but an amazing repertoire of skills with much to show for on his Github page, but they will struggle to obtain a job just becuase of lack of work experience. Meanwhile, a senior-level associate at a large company may have arrived there simply by staying in the game long enough to inevitably be raised to their current position.

Develup is the silver bullet to kill the Paradox, but I can't do this alone. Develup is only as strong as its community. Every member of Develup is able to work or post any task, anywhere, at any time!
